Giannakis

Panagiotis Giannakis(; born January 1, 1959), is a retired Greek professional basketball player and coach. He discovered his
talent in basketball from a very young age and he became one of the biggest personalities in European Basketball.
From 1984 to 1993 he was a member of the legendary team of Aris Thesaloniki winning 7 Greek championships and 6 Greek cups
and the Fiba saporta cup. He was a key member of the Greek National team who won the European Championship in 1987.
In 1996 as a Panathinaikos player he won the European Championship in Paris.
In 2005 he managed a unique achievement: Becoming the only person to have won the gold medal in EuroBasket with the
National Team both as a player and as a head coach. He is also the only one that took part in a EuroLeague final as a player and
as a coach.
He was inductive in the Fiba hall of fame in 2021.
